The European Commission made a communication regarding the « European strategy for a better Internet for Children ». The Commission considers that the Internet is not sufficiently safe and friendly for Children.
The Commission therefore encourages the industry to implement, among others:
• targeted, interactive quality content for children;
• parental controls that are simple to configure, are user-friendly and accessible;
• content classification in order to make it interpretable by parental controls;
• Specific age-appropriate information towards Children regarding online advertising;
• proactive measures to remove child sex abuse material from the internet.
